Fujisawa City’s Enoshima Island is just an hour south of Tokyo and an absolute contrast in atmosphere. Open, relaxed and lush with greenery, Enoshima is a must-see destination when one is in need of some fresh air and a break from the hustle-and-bustle of one of the world’s most densely-populated cities. On the island itself, Enoshima actually has three shrines, which are all collectively known as Enoshima Jinja (shrine). On my most recent visit, I took a walking route on the west-side of the island and discovered Okutsunomiya, one of the aforementioned three shrines and possibly the coolest sculpture that I have ever seen.
