Summer in Japan is super hot and more humid than you would expect. According to a report\u00a0in 2016, more than 50,000 people were transported to hospitals due to heatstroke between the months of\u00a0May and September, and in 2016 alone, nearly 50 people passed away because of heatstroke. So this is something to take seriously when you plan a trip to Japan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To prevent heatstroke, there are a number of useful products to fight heatstroke from ever occurring, and of course, the\u00a0frequent intake of water is also fundamental in preventing heatstroke. In Japan, a \u201d\u00a0Zero Heatstroke<\/strong>\u00a0\u201d project was put together\u00a0by the Japan Weather Association and has been running since 2013. Throughout 2017, they will continue to promote their project to get people to pay\u00a0more attention to the problem of heat stroke and how to avoid it. In July, Tokyo, Kanazawa, and Fukuoka, which are some of the major cities in Japan, will collaborate with the\u00a0Ministry of the Environment<\/strong>\u00a0to organize promotional events such as \u00a0\u201cPreventing Heatstroke in July.\u201d<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The famous character\u00a0Hello Kitty<\/strong>\u00a0will be\u00a0the ambassador of this event<\/strong>. At the event, they will offer several educational campaigns which will help promote the safe enjoyment of the summer season. If you make a trip to the event you might have the chance to nab a\u00a0Hello Kitty-themed paper fan. \u00a0They are available on a first-come-first-serve basis, and\u00a0you get\u00a0to take a picture with Hello Kitty herself, before uploading the picture onto social media. You can also get a themed fan if you participate in a questionnaire related to heatstroke. A chance to learn about heatstroke while collecting cool\u00a0heatstroke prevention gifts.
