Miyagi Prefecture

Miyagi’s capital Sendai is the region’s largest city. Just outside of Sendai is Matsushima, a coastal town well known to offer one of Japan’s three most scenic views. Naruko Gorge is located about two kilometers from the small Hot Spring town of Naruko Onsen. Every year around late October to early November, the gorge transforms into one of the region’s most popular Autumn Color Spot. In Summer, the Sendai Tanabata Festival, the largest Tanabata Festival in Japan, is held. Sendai is the origin of several foods, and is also known for good Sashimi, Sushi, and Sake.
