With a menu full of choices including western and Japanese food, along with a wide selection of drinks, Murahachi is a great restaurant to eat out. With easy access close to Saga Station, this Izakaya has plenty to offer.
Murahachi Izakaya Restaurant has three branches in Saga prefecture. The easiest to access is just south of Saga Station, around 5 minutes on foot. Other branches are in north Saga City and Takeo city. As well as being a popular spot for drinking parties and dinner, it is also open for lunch time with a special lunch menu. The lunch menu is more limited than the dinner menu but offers some delicious sets at good prices. Murahachi Izakaya is open for lunch from 11:00 – 14:30 Mondays to Saturdays. From Mondays to Thursdays and on Sundays it is open for dinner from 17:00 to 00:00. On Fridays and Saturdays, as well as public holidays, it is open from 17:00 to 01:00.
As with many Izakayas, you can choose a course meal or opt for the regular menu and order what you like. Courses are all you can drink, with drinks from a limited menu. Though it may cost more, ordering from the main menu gives you many options for great tasting food and drinks. Courses cost around 3000yen while individual items on the menu cost around 200 to 600yen.
The Izakaya menu has a wonderful selection of Japanese and western style food. Some of the Japanese food include sashimi and yakitori. There is also a selection of pizzas, cheese sticks with shiso leaves, gyoza and pastas. If you go in a group, there’s sure to be something for everyone. Like many places in Japan however, options for vegetarians are limited. Murahachi also has a wide selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. There are Japanese drinks like plum wine (umeshu) and sake, beer, wine and cocktails. Some delicious non-alcoholic cocktails are also on the menu. Once you enjoy a great meal you can order from their dessert menu. Desserts can be ordered as they are or in a set with coffee. Crème brulee, cheesecake and soft ice cream are some of the options.
One of the best points for Murahachi is its ordering system. When you are seated, you are given a remote control with a screen to make your orders from. Though this is all in Japanese, the staff can demonstrate how to use it. Ordering is simple. The items on the menu all have numbers you key into the remote and send. If you go for dinner on a weeknight, usually it is not too busy and your orders will arrive quickly. There are two floors, and some separate rooms for reservations. If you plan to go in a big group, making a reservation is advised, especially for weekends and holidays. Weekday evenings are usually quieter, and with counter seating available, two or three people can usually be seated even during busier times.
The decor of Murahachi Izakaya gives a sophisticated, stylish atmosphere perfect for a night out. It is also a great place for parties and celebrations.
