Kagoshima Prefecture

Sakurajima is one of Japan’s most active volcanoes and the symbol of Kagoshima Prefecture. The volcano smokes constantly, and minor eruptions often take place multiple times per day. Sakurajima is the area’s most prominent geographic feature. Kagoshima’s other places of interest include: Senganen Garden, Kagoshima Aquarium, Shiroyama Park, and The Reimeikan Museum dedicated to local history and culture.
