Miyazaki Prefecture

Miyazaki Prefecture is located along the southeastern coast of Kyushu. The Prefectural capital is Miyazaki City. Popular destinations include Aoshima Island, Heiwadai Park and Miyazaki Shrine. It is also home to Takachiho, a town that is steeped in Japanese mythology, and Udo Shrine, a brightly painted shrine set in a cave on the side of a cliff overlooking the ocean. With one of the warmest climates on the main islands of Japan, resorts, beaches and sports facilities, Miyazaki City used to be the top honeymoon spot and a popular destination with domestic travelers until the 1980s.
