Kochi Prefecture

Kochi is the capital of Kochi Prefecture on the southern coast of Shikoku. Attractions include Kochi Castle, one of only 12 original Castles left in Japan and Ryugado Cave. Nearby on another Mountain, Godaisan, pilgrims visit Chikurenji Temple, one of the 88 temples along the Shikoku Pilgrimage. The city is also the proud home of Sakamoto Ryoma and the Sakamoto Ryoma Memorial Museum is located at the beautiful Katsurahama Beach. Katsuo no tataki is Kochi’s most famous dish.
