Yamanashi Prefecture is located immediately west of Tokyo in the Chubu Region. Mount Fuji, the Fuji Five Lakes region, the Senga Falls, Koshu wineries, Erin-ji Temple in Koshu, and the Kuonji Temple at Minobu are a few of the most popular places to visit. Mitake Shosenkyo, outside central Kofu City, is one of Japan’s most beautiful gorges. It is part of the Chichibu Tama Kai National Park. Yamanashi is popular with Mountain Climbing and Hiking enthusiasts throughout the year. Fujiyoshida Fire Festival marks the end of the summer climbing season on Mount Fuji.
