Nara Prefecture

Nara is located less than one hour from Kyoto and Osaka. Due to its past as the first permanent capital, it remains full of Historical treasures, including some of Japan’s oldest and largest Temples. Nara Park in central Nara, is famous for its freely roaming Deer, and is also the location of Nara’s main attractions including Todaiji Temple, Kasuga Taisha Shrine, and the Nara National Museum. Nara is also famous for the Wakakusa Yamayaki, an annual Festival during which the grass on the hillside of Nara’s Mount Wakakusayama is set on fire.
